About
The context
Soft skills are interpersonal, cognitive, and personal resource skills that complement hard skills and contribute to safe and efficient task performance. For the last years, these play an important role. Besides, human errors might be reduced by better training in soft skills.
There is a gap in soft skills education within the healthcare domain. Current methods for soft skills training are e-courses, e-games or seminars, mainly at Continuous Vocational Education and Training (CVET) schools, using best practices, discussions, consultations, model situations or case studies. This training for Health Professionals and Students (HPS) has not only not yet been standardized but could also be better established in the educational framework for recognition. This can be proved by the syllabi of the different institutions providing the same official education not only in different countries but also at national level.
Just recently, the council of the European Union published the recommendation (2022/C 243/02) to adopt a European approach to micro-credentials to enable individuals to acquire, update and improve skills, to support micro-credentials providers to enhance the quality, transparency, accessibility, and flexibility of learning and to foster inclusiveness, access, and equal opportunities.
Therefore, soft skills training for HPS still presents space for improvement and micro-credentials can entail tools and methods than develop specific knowledge and expand their skills and competences to allow them to explore their own learning pathways and to upskill and reskill for thriving in an evolving labour market. Thus, further efforts for innovative learning and training of HPS in soft skills that will be recognized using micro-credentials is still a must, because this area represents critical part of HPS’ daily work and can also improve their employability.
The digitalization of training at all levels has been boosted by the COVID-19 pandemic, promoting the MOOC for anytime, anywhere training. Similarly, digitalization has also resulted in the application of other technologies, such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Serious Games (SG) to improve training at all educational levels.
Therefore, MISS4Health identified a gap, as no proper training schema based on Massive Online Open Course (MOOC), SG and micro-credentials is currently provided to HPS. The project proposes an innovative approach for soft skills training for HPS, since as far as the consortium knows, there is no initiative in this line. Besides, MISS4Health addresses real needs identified in EU documentation and by the partners through former projects and it is proposed by a solid and complementary consortium with wide experience on Erasmus+ projects, which assure the consecution of the project objectives and proper used of EU funds. Besides, the project will have a major impact thanks to the open access to the MOOC, the promotion of micro-credentials, the geographical dispersion of partners and network of associated partners.

Objectives
The general objective of MISS4Health is to improve competences of HPS in the not duly appreciated soft skills domain to contribute to a higher quality of healthcare.
The developed MOOC together with micro-credentials represent the primary result of the project. As for the priorities, its single skill-oriented modules with the application of multimedia content and modern approaches such as virtual reality and serious games, will contribute to the development, testing and implementation of an alternative, innovative, digital learning pathway in the selected realm (horizontal priority). Moreover, self-assessment tools and provided feedback will increase pedagogical value of the main product. Thus, MISS4Health will promote and stimulate innovative learning and teaching practices for Higher Education (HE) and CVET.
Therefore, the specific objectives are:
O1. Improve digital skills of HPS to promote a European global access to high quality digital education contents.
O2. Improve soft skills training and consequently particular skills of HPS.
O3. Create a modular MOOC to obtain micro-credentials that certificates soft skills for HPS.
O4. Issue micro-credentials at European level for soft skills training for HPS following the EU recommendation and EMC Common Micro-credential Framework.
O5. Increase awareness of the importance and relevance of soft skills training for HPS, and other related target groups.
O6. Promote the use of micro-credentials in healthcare training in HE and CVET.
